Abstract

ABSTRACT

Insulin is an essential therapeutic agent in diabetes management, contributing to glycemic control and the prevention of hyperglycemia-related complications. Safe and effective insulin therapy requires appropriate selection of insulin formulations, accurate dosing, suitable injection devices, and proper administration techniques. Insulin preparations can be classified according to their origin and duration of action, including rapid-acting, short-acting, intermediate-acting, long-acting, and premixed insulin formulations. Each type has distinct pharmacokinetic characteristics and administration requirements, emphasizing the importance of adherence to prescribed treatment regimens. In addition, selecting injection devices compatible with insulin concentrations, ensuring accurate dose measurement, and applying appropriate subcutaneous injection techniques are essential for treatment safety. Comprehensive patient education regarding insulin administration and proper use of injection devices plays a crucial role in improving glycemic control, minimizing medication errors, and supporting effective long-term diabetes management.
