The Practical Situation of Family Planning in a Coastal Commune (Through A Case Study in Hai Chinh Commune, Hai Hau District, Nam Dinh Province)

Abstract

The writing deals with the practical situation of family planning in a coastal commune of Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province with a focus on the aspects as follows: the age of first marriage, situation of birth and use of methods of contraception. The research finding indicates that the age of first marriage of males and females has had tendency to higher compared with that in the previous time but it has varied to the professional groups, educational level, etc. Although the rate of having more than two children has reduced in the five recent years, it still has been high in comparison with many other localities. The perception of people of the methods of contraception still has been limited. The Catholic females rarely have had opportunities to receive information from cadres propagating the family planning due to “tie” of the doctrine and “non-cooperation” of husband or his family. In the other side, they also have not had enough conditions to seek the appropriate assistant, advisory services
