The writing generalizes the characteristic, typical cultural featuresand values of indigenous ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands, the cultural changes, the cause and effect of these cultural changes on the sustainable development of the Central Highlands. The culture of the Central Highlands has its very distinctive characteristics: It is the community culture of pre-class society, indigenous culture, forest and swidden culture, folk culture which has been transmitted orally and has attached closely to the nature and has reflected the habitat. There are many reasons, including both the objective (mainly) and subjective ones, causing the cultural changes. These cultural changes have had their positive and negative impacts on the Central Highlands’ sustainable development. Based on his research findings, the author makes some recommendations on preserving and bringing into place the Central Highlands’ cultural values.
