Transformation of Livelihood of Ethnic Minorities in Place in Buffer Zone of Cat Tien National Park (Study of Ta Lai Commune, Tan Phu District, Dong Nai Province)
Abstract
The writing presents the change of livelihood of Ma and Stieng peoples in Ta Lai commune since the implemetation of fixed cultivation and settlement and establisment of Cat Tien national park. It is the transition of economy, especially agricultural production, diversification of non-agricultural activities, etc. The writing also indicates a number of elements affecting this process of transformation: the policy of fixed cultivation and settlement and socio-economic programs, industrialization and modernization process in Dong Nai province, the educational level of people in place, etc. Owing to this transformation, life of ethnic minority people has been improved clearly. Yet, it has faced many difficulties. The urgent issue arisen is that it is needed to improve the quality of human resource, especially education standard and vocational training for ethnic minorities in place.
