This article looks at the cultural practice of eating canines in South Korea in order to compare and contrast different cultural explanations and interpretations employed in this practice. Western countries are often ethnocentric and they are not interested in cultural relativism concerning eating dog meat in Korea. In Korean culture, the social process of eating dog meat creates a meaningful symbol toward dogs and influences their behavior towards dogs. It is important to understand the cultural practice of eating dog in Korea. Additionally, it is important to conduct surveys pf the dog eating in other Asian countries to understand how the practice of eating dog meat compares and contrasts within Asia.
