This article describes the process of cultural trends in the ethnic minorities of the mountainous areas of Thua Thien - Hue from 1975 up to the present. According to the development orientation, cultural change has occurred in five phases: 1) cultural exchange, 2) modern cultural integration, 3) acculturation, 4) diminishing of traditional culture, and 5) restoration of traditional culture. The different phases of cultural changes in recent years are positive and should be promoted. However, it is important to have further studies on ethnic cultures in order to meet the above mentioned development orientation.
