The writing introduces the initiative research findings of the ways of usage and management of water resource of the Tay people in Po Cai village. It focuses on three main questions, namely the usage and management of water source for serving production and daily life and related beliefs accompanied rituals. Based on these research findings, the writing indicates the changes in usage and management of water resource as well as the factors affecting on these changes in the new context of border area of Lang Son province. So far, the traditional exploitation and protection of water resource still have been maintained by the Tay people in Po Cai village. However, there is some change in water usage: utilization of PVC pipes to conduct water to individual houses instead of fetching water from the streams, improvement of irrigation systems and active pump of water into wet-rice fields instead of expectation of rain water and water from stream flumes.
