Tóm tắt

Traditionally, the Tay people in Po Cai village dwell in the houses in style of three - four compartments with frame made of wood, roof covered with double tile, and living space arranged according to the specific habits. To build a new house, it is needed to undergo many steps such as making consultation with the fortune teller about the household head’s age, collecting necessary materials, finding out soil suitable for building up the house walls, making choice of foundation and direction of house, etc. Building up a new house also must follow in order of successive steps and after completement of house construction, the household head must perform the ritual for entrace to his new house and set up a altar for house spirits. Yet, under the impact of cultural exchange and urbanization, recently most of Tay houses in Po Cai village have had changes in both their structure and living space, especially, the replacement of traditional style of house by the style of brick or multi-floor house with modern and diverse furnitures.
