Based on the overview of anthropological researches on cross-border marriage in relation to cross-border ethnic groups and their culture in certain countries in the region and Vietnam, this article points out discussions about ethnic relations and ethnic culture in the studies on cross-border marriage and sets out some problems in the studies on cross-border marriage from the perspective of Anthropology in our country at present. It shows that with the approach to agency in marriage, many anthropological studies on cross-border marriage have contributed to clarifying prejudices and ambiguity regarding marriage motives and process of women in trans-national marriage.
