This paper focuses on exploring the interrelations between natural, socio-economic, ethnic and political conditions and transnational ethnic interactions in four particular communes in the Central Highland region. Primary findings indicate presence of more advantage conditions in Thuan An and Ia Dom communes in comparison with Dak Nong and Krong Na communes. This explains the transnational relations of the same ethnic groups are not only more active and frequent, but also have more significant socio-economic, environmental and security impacts in these two former communes.
