Tóm tắt

This article discusses the practical situation of migration including both the planned and uncontrolled migration in the Central Highlands and its impacts on the ethnic relations in this region. It points out clearly that the situation of migration taking place rapidly and intensely in the Central Highlands - different from other regions of all over Vietnam, has made the structure and composition of population of this region change remarkably. There have been many reasons causing this state of which the push and pull forces of the departure and destination have been the main one. To solve this current migration situation in the Central Highlands, there have been many policies and programs, notably the policy of fixed cultivation and settlement of the Vietnamese government implemented in this region to assist people here to stable their location and production. However, during the implementation of these policies and programs at the local level, there has been appearance of problems restricting the implementation of the program of fixed cultivation and settlement for the migrants. In this process, the migration has had its impacts in opposite directions, both positive and negative, on the development of community of ethnic peoples as well as the whole Central Highlands region, including ethnic relations and union.
