Although there are a number of studies from theory to monographs and writings of the fishermen dwelling on the boat in Vietnam, these ones still have not touched on the challenges faced by this community under the impact of modern life. This writing analyses the ways of adaptation of the group of fishermen dwelling on the boat in Lo river of Tuyen Quang city when they have to confront the arose issues of modern life such as water pollution, illiterate, poverty, etc. Based on the analysis, the author makes some recommendations on solutions to the aspiration of most fishermen dwelling on the boat in this area to be resettled on the bank but have maintained their fishing in the river.
