The Cham people in South Vietnam are not very populous, but they reside across an extensive area, especially in An Giang, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City. For a long time, Islam has affected all aspects of their lives, including the naming of the child. Through survey results, the Cham here usually have three names: the main name, the first name, and the nickname. The main name is set by the system in the name of Holy Scriptures or Islam rhetoric system with a good meaning in Arabic. Their way of naming considers the birth time, the child's sex, and position of the prefix and suffix of the Arabic.
