Some Remarks on the Thai Studies in Vietnam from 1980 to the Present Day
Abstract
This paper explores the principal trends of ethnographical studies of the Thai ethnic people in Vietnam since the 1980s. Based on keyword categorization methodology with survey scope of the Institute of Anthropology’s library, the most popular topics among these studies have been initially identified as: ethnic origin, ethnic localization, cultural identity, socio-economic development. These studies offer descriptions of Thai cultural identities as they are affected by internal and inter-ethnic social exchange, acculturaltion and historical development.
