This article shows that Thai people in Pieng Pho village have easy access to science and technology, diverse agriculture produce, and can change occupations to have stable incomes due to the formation of a young, knowledgeable and skillful community. The special characteristic of this newly-established village is that the community has created an extraordinary bond among the villagers. This bond has helped the Thai community to stabilize, develop and ensure food security. The Thai women have played an important role in shaping the community through ensuring that their household income was stable, accessing social benefits, and by establishing investment and production development plans as a community. Once household incomes were secure community investment programs and projects have been carried out effectively in Pieng Pho village, enabling local people to escape from poverty. However, the Thai still meet many difficulties and challenges to ensure their food security. Examining these challenges, the authors have put forward recommendations to address long-term problems facing the Thai community’s food security.
