Shizuoka province is divided into three different regions (the upland, lowland and coastal areas). Each region uses a special blend of wheat and rice as their staple food. Their usage and process of supplemental food and spices do not only meet their daily demands, but also represents an adaptation toward the environment. The environment helps shapes the specific characteristics of the Japanese eating and drinking all along the distinctive regions which are shown in terms of the quantity and ingredients of food and the structure and arrangement of ingredients used to create meals. Additionally, the eating and drinking in Shizuoka province is culturally integrated forming a junction between East and West Japan
