The Tortoise Festival is also called Long Tong. In the Nung language, “Long Tong” means to go to the field. Long Tong is one of the spiritual festivals of Nung people. This festival is organized annually on the 6th of January in the lunar calendar. Nowadays Nung people in Ba Dinh village, Tan Long commune, Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen province still preserve their traditional culture in this festival. There have been some changes in the festival, however, along with the general trend of shifting society.
