The central part of Vietnam, which is considered as a historical and ethnological area, has 17 ethnic groups. In the development process, these ethnic groups have been living together, and the cultural interminglement has happened very quickly. According to the author, however, the cultural contact among these ethnic groups has the specific characteristic that acculturation has not happened. The reasons for this characteristic are the geography and cultural characteristics. Additionally, there is no exceeding development between these ethnic groups. Therefore, they have maintained their specific characteristics in the general culture.
