Tóm tắt

The Cho-ro ethnicity is one of 53 ethnic minorities in Vietnam, and resides mainly in Dong Nai province. In this article, the author mentions the residential customs and traditional houses of the Cho-ro people in Dong Nai province. For the Cho-ro people, the village is a basic residential unit. In each village, there are about 10 to 15 long houses. Each long house is about 40-50m, even as large as 100m. There are several families in a house. The families in the village belong to different kinship groups but they are all related. The traditional family of the Cho-ro people includes multiple generations living together in a long house. After getting married, the new family lives in a new space that is extended from the long house. Nowadays, the residential customs and the traditional houses of the Cho-ro people have been changed. The nuclear family type has become popular. Together with this change, the houses have become shorter. In addition, many houses on stilts have been replaced by houses that look like the houses of the Kinh people
