Water is important to the lives and the production of the Muong people such as in agriculture and aquaculture. Their water resources are diversified, and they have accumulated much experience in water management and usage. They have set up regulations in order to keep the water sanitary and clean, and to use the water effectively in production, such as erosion prevention. In fact, if the regulations are strictly complied with, the communal solidarity will be consolidated; disputes and disagreements will lessen. There have been many changes in socio-economics and culture, but the local knowledge of the Muong people in water management and usage is still important in their lives.
