According to the author, then is a ritual of folk beliefs therefore the dance in initial ritual then is the most typical in the system of religious dance of the Tay. The dance in  initial ritual then includes chau dance (chau fan-dance, chau music dance, chau lan dance), kham hai dance, flower-canopy (tan hoa) dance. The typical characteristics of initial ritual then are that the dance is performed in a very small physical setting; the dancers mainly sit while dance; and the dance movements are simple mainly with hand.
