Through surveying Vietnamese villages’ land registration in the Northern Delta, the author discovered that land registration is a source of information which sets up a complete and precise list of administrative units. This informs us of the size of villages and communes, the amount of land privatization, and the religions and beliefs present in the area. The author suggests that land registration is particularly valuable in research into traditional Vietnamese villages. Each land registration is a vivid description of a specific village. Research on land registration gives a full the picture of village practices and belief systems. This reference enables us to fully picture the traditional Vietnamese villages in Northern Delta. The picture of Vietnamese traditional rural area will be restored.
