Tóm tắt
The article deals with the classification and special characteristics of Catholic village customary regulations in Northern Vietnam. On the basis of analyzing ten regulation documents of villages comprised mostly of Catholic followers in five provinces in the Red River Delta, the author put them in four categories: 1) those printed in Han (Chinese) characters as well as French and Quoc ngu (modern Vietnamese) scripts; 2) those printed in Han characters with wood blocks; 3) those printed in Nom (early Vietnamese) script; and 4) those printed in Quoc ngu script. The contents of these village regulations comprise general provisions on all aspects of life of traditional Vietnamese villages. Yet they also have some stipulations relating to the Catholic beliefs and rules of each village.
