Socio-economic Transformation of Ethnicities in the Mon-Khmer Linguistic Group since Renovation up to Present and Research Issues in Question

Abstract

Since Renovation (1986), the socio-economic life of Mon-Khmer linguistic ethnic people in Vietnam has transformed considerably in almost every aspect. Since then, numerous studies have been done on these ethnic groups. However, most of those studies have focused more on traditional, specific issues. Many of which have been done notably as monographic accounts. As a result, not much attention has been paid on contemporary issues and comparison. By studying available literature, this article systematically presents basic economic, social and cultural changes of Mon-Khmer linguistic ethnic groups in Vietnam since 1986 up to present, and as the same time, provides suggestions on several important issues that need further studies in the future
