The development of the Communist Party of Vietnam's theoretical understanding of private economic development during the period of renewal

Abstract

This article clarifies four “steps” in the development of the Communist Party of Vietnam's theoretical understanding of private economic development during the renovation period: (1) The 6th National Congress, with new insights into the long-term role and position of the private economy; (2) The 10th National Congress, with new insights into the private economy as one of the driving forces of the economy; (3) The 12th National Congress with the view that the private economy is an important driving force of the economy; (4) Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025 of the 13th Politburo affirming that the private economy is the most
important driving force of the national economy.
