Abstract

Biomimicry has emerged as an important approach in mechanical engineering applications for the textile industry, particularly in the design of fiber structures, fabrics, and material surfaces with enhanced functional performance. By investigating optimized structures and mechanisms found in nature, mechanical engineering principles enable the transformation of biological concepts into engineering solutions through structural design, numerical modeling, manufacturing technologies, and process control. This paper analyzes the role of mechanics of materials, structural mechanics, manufacturing engineering, and numerical simulation in the development of biomimetic fibers and textile structures. Furthermore, the potential applications in technical textiles and the contribution of this approach to the sustainable development of the textile industry are discussed.
