Abstract

The gyroscope components are made from Titanium alloy Ti-5Al, having high demands on surface quality. Surface quality is evaluated through surface roughness that depends on cutting regime parameters. This article introduce the findings of study on the influence of cutting parameters on surface roughness of Titanium alloy Ti-5Al parts in CNC turning.  Based on the experimental results, a matematical model has been established to describe the effect of cutting speed (V), feed rate (S), cutting depth (t) on surface roughness of Titanium alloy Ti-5Al parts with their corresponding coefficients: K = 132,436; a1 = -0,1579; a2 = 1,791; a3 = 0,0819. The regression model was validated using statistical analysis tools with a confidence level greater than 98.2%. The model proposed in this study can be applied to improve the surface quality during CNC turning of Titanium alloy Ti-5Al parts.
