Applying an Anthropological Approach to the Study of Free Labor Migration Among Ethnic Minorities in Vietnam’s Border Regions
Abstract
Research on migration in general, and free labor migration of ethnic minority groups in border regions in particular, is essential, especially in the current context of the merger of administrative units that have been vigorously occurring in Vietnam. The article systematizes global migration theories and evaluates the existing scholarship on that topic in borderlands from an anthropological perspective. By analyzing shifts in economic, cultural, and inter-ethnic dynamics, the paper provides critical scientific evidence for formulating sustainable development strategies and ensuring national security. Based on these findings, the author proposes further discussions for future research on ethnic minority labor migration in Vietnam's border region.
