Abstract

Piper lolot, belonging to the Piperaceae family, is a well-known vegetable and medicinal herb that contains numerous chemical compounds with significant pharmacological effects. In traditional medicine, P. lolot is known for its fresh taste, warm properties, and fragrant aroma. It is believed to have the ability to warm the body, dispel cold, lower qi, and alleviate rheumatism. In Vietnam, particularly in Bac Lieu City, there is a plentiful supply of P. lolot, making it a promising source of chemical ingredients. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze and describe the morphological and anatomical characteristics, medicinal powder, and leaves of the entire P. lolot plant collected from 512 Highway 91C South of Song Hau, Bac Lieu City. The chemical composition was determined using the improved Ciuley method. The results of the study showed that P. lolot can be identified based on its morphology, anatomical data, microbiology, medicinal powder, and preliminary chemical composition. These findings can aid in the accurate identification and testing of medicinal herbs. Additionally, they can serve as a reference for future research.
