This study aimed to describe the anatomical characteristics, qualitative phytochemical compounds, quantify total polyphenols and assess the antioxidant and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities of Garcinia oblongifolia leaf extracts. Extract dried leaf powder using 96%, 70%, 50% ethanol and water. Anatomical features were examined on double-stained sections, while phytochemical constituents were identified through qualitative assays. Total polyphenols were quantified using the Folin–Ciocalteu method and α-glucosidase inhibition was determined spectrophotometrically. The results showed that the leaves and stems of G. oblongifolia exhibit anatomical traits characteristic of the Clusiaceae family All extracts displayed strong positive reactions for polyphenols and flavonoids. Notably, the 96% ethanol extract presented the highest polyphenol content and strongest antioxidant activity, whereas the 70% ethanol extract demonstrated the most potent α-glucosidase inhibitory effect, surpassing acarbose, indicating a marked solvent dependence of the biological activities. These findings not only reinforce existing evidence regarding the abundance of valuable secondary metabolites in G. oblongifolia but also highlight the potential of developing standardized extracts for antioxidant purposes or blood glucose management.
