Impact of crop diversification to farmers’ income in Binh Dai disdict, Ben Tre province
Abstract
This research sought to find out impact of crop diversification to farmers’ income in Binh Dai district, Ben Tre province. The research used direct survey data from farmers in Binh Dai district, Ben Tre province. The Crop Diversification Index (CDI) measures the level of crop diversification and a multivariate regression model with the ordinary least squares (OLS) method is used in this study. Data are collected through direct interviews with 90 farmers in 2024 in Binh Dai district. The research results show that the average income in agriculture is 57 million/person/year and the level of crop diversification of farmers is low with a CDI index of 0.36. The results of the regression model also show that variables such as: age of farmer, area, education level, experience, CDI index, number of agricultural workers, participation in agricultural extension, and loans have an impact income of farmer. Therefore, the research provides policy implications to diversify crops and increase income of farmer in the locality.
