Tóm tắt

Objectives: To describe the management competencies and identify factors associated with the management competencies of head nurses in clinical departments/units at Thanh Nhan Hospital in 2024.

Methodology: A cross-sectional study design was used to assess the management competencies of 40 head nurses at Thanh Nhan Hospital. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS 20.0.

Results: The proportion of head nurses with moderate management competency was 52.5%, average competency was 27.5%, and good competency was 20%. Age was significantly associated with management competency, with the highest average score in the 40-49 age group (4.19) and the lowest in the ≥ 50 age group (3.18) (p<0.05). Work experience of more than 20 years had the highest average management competency score (4.22). Those managing 21-50 beds had the highest average competency score (4.57) (p<0.05).

Conclusions: Most head nurses demonstrated moderate management competencies, but a significant proportion exhibited only average competency levels. Factors such as age, work experience, management experience, and the number of hospital beds managed were shown to impact management competencies.
