PRESERVING AND PROMOTING CHAM ETHNIC PERFORMING ARTS IN HO CHI MINH CITY IN THE CURRENT CONTEXT

Abstract

The
Cham
ethnic
group
has
a
rich
and
diverse
cultural
and
musical
life,
including
a
variety
of
Cham
singing
and

dancing
performances,
associated
with
the
Cham
people
in
many
rituals,
festivals
and
community
activities.

Through
fieldwork,
observation,
and
participation
in
a
number
of
Cham
performing
arts
programs
in
Ho
Chi

Minh
City,
we
collected,
synthesized
and
analyzed
a
number
of
necessary
documents
to
contribute
to
introducing

a
number
of
traditional
Cham
performing
arts,
giving
assessments
of
the
current
situation
and
solutions
to

preserve
traditional
Cham
performing
arts
currently
associated
with
the
Ho
Chi
Minh
City
area,
where
the
Cham

community
lives
and
works,
associated
with
many
unique
cultural
activities
and
community
festivals.
