Impacts of the US - China decoupling trend on Vietnam’s e-commerce: opportunities and development strategies in Ho Chi Minh City in the new era
Abstract
This article studies the impacts of the U.S.-China decoupling trend on e-commerce in
Vietnam, thereby offering a comprehensive perspective on opportunities and strategic
recommendations for Ho Chi Minh City to leverage its strengths and role in the e-commerce
sector. Through the analysis and synthesis of data related to U.S.-China decoupling,
the article identifies the effects of this trend on the e-commerce industry in developing
countries and draw connections to Vietnam’s e-commerce. With a logical approach, the
article also provides a holistic view of the opportunities and challenges facing Ho Chi
Minh City in the digital era amid global economic shifts. The research findings indicate that Ho Chi Minh City has the potentiality to accelerate e-commerce development by
capitalizing on its existing foundation and seizing opportunities arising from U.S.-China
decoupling. However, it is also essential to recognize and address certain persisting
limitations. Based on these findings, the article proposes strategic recommendations for
the development of e-commerce in Ho Chi Minh City
