Employment and wages of workers in Dong Nai Province from the perspective of the national programme on decent work

Abstract

Creating better jobs with higher incomes and wages that ensure a minimum standard
of living for workers and their households is a core objective of Vietnam’s National
Programme on Decent Work for the 2022-2026 period, implemented in cooperation
with the International Labour Organization (ILO). Using data from the 2023 Vietnam
Household Living Standards Survey conducted by the General Statistics Office, this paper
examines the employment situation of workers in Đồng Nai Province, with a particular
focus on salaries and wages among paid employees. It also identifies key challenges
in ensuring decent wages for workers. The findings are intended to inform provinciallevel managers and policy advisors concerned with guaranteeing living wages and
fair compensation for all workers especially wage-earners, thereby contributing to the
achievement of the objectives set out in the National Programme on Decent Work.
