Preliminary data on species composition of the freshwater fish in Tan Giang reservoir, Ninh Thuan province
Abstract
The article provides initial data on species composition, taxon structure of freshwater fish in Tan Giang reservoir, Ninh Thuan province. The research results have identified 16 species belonging to 13 genera and 8 families of 6 orders. The composition of the collected fish species is representative fishes in freshwater stream area: Channa orientalis Bloch & Schneider, 1801; Schistura spiloptera (Valenciennes, 1846); Osteochilus brachynotopteroides Chevey, 1934. A species of ornamental fish - Siamese algae eater – Crossocheilus oblongus Kuhl, Van & Hasselt, 1823, was recorded the first time for the freshwater fish in Ninh Thuan province. Regarding the structure of species composition, the most specimensare the order carp (Cypriniformes) with 7 species, (43.75% of the total recorded species; followed the Anabantiformes, Gobiiformes, each with has 03 species ( 18.75%); Cichliformes, Synbranchiformes, Siluriformes, each order has 01 species counting for 6.25%.
