Studying on ex-situ conservation of green turtle (Chelonia mydas) from Con Dao, Ba Ria Vung Tau province to Cham Island, Quang Nam

Abstract

    The study of ex-situ conservation methods of Green Turtle (Chalonia mydas) was carried out from 7/2017-8/2019. A total of 1900 eggs belong to 36 nests of Green turtle was transferred from Con Dao National park, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province to hatch in Cu Lao Cham Marine Protected Area. The results showed that the average hatching rate of the eggs was 93.89 ± 7.0% with the similarity between two ways of transporting (by Airplane and by Car). It also indicated that eggs' incubation time in Cu Lao Cham was signifi cantly faster than in Con Dao, with the rate 54 ± 0 ÷ 58.5 ± 0.71 (days).
