Green Energy Development in Singapore: A Lesson and Policy Implications for Vietnam
Keywords
Abstract
This article examines Singapore’s experience in developing green energy and draws implications for Vietnam. The findings show that Singapore’s success has largely resulted from the coordinated implementation of renewable energy, energy storage, electricity imports, carbon pricing, and green finance, although the country remains heavily dependent on natural gas. Accordingly, Vietnam should prioritize overall system efficiency, promote self-generation and self-consumption of solar power, strengthen carbon pricing, link green finance to measurable emissions reductions, and safeguard energy security.
