Abstract

The intrinsic job quality is a current topic in developing countries, especially Vietnam. This term refers to the extent to which a set of intrinsic job characteristics can meet the requirements and expectations of employees and organizations. The objective of this study is to compare intrinsic job quality among groups of bank employees in Vietnam via different demographic characteristics. Qualitative research methods were used to examine theories and develop measurement scales, then the author conducted quantitative research through data collected from a survey conducted from April to July 2024 with 368 bank employees in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. Independent Samples T-Test and One-way ANOVA via SPSS 27 show the average mean difference of marital status for work intensity, nature of tasks and work conditions. The study also found differences in age and tenure when assessing skill variety and nature of tasks. From there, some important managerial implications such as creating a flexible working environment, training to improve skills, and ensuring the rationality and fairness in task allocation may help managers use and design jobs effectively and appropriately for bank employees in Vietnam.
