ASEAN POLITICO-SECURITY COMMUNITY – FROM THE IDEAS TO THE REALITY

Abstract

The paper summarises the course of developing the ASEAN Politico-Security Community, from the ideas and the contents of ASEAN Politico-Security Community to the course of formation and directions for ASEAN Politico-Security Community development in the new period. The ideas to form ASEAN Politico-Security Community were initiated in 1997 and ASEAN officially started the process of forming ASEAN Politico-Security Community with the Bali Declaration II. The Community formation is based on the detailed contents, objectives and steps stated in the 2009 APSC Blueprint. In 2015, on the basis of the achieved results, ASEAN declared the formation of ASEAN Community and the objectives of ASEAN Community development in the new period.
