The Soviet Union’s support in modern weapons and equipments contributed to defeating the US air war of destruction in the Northern Vietnam

Abstract

During the two warfare campaigns to destruct Northern Vietnam, the United States Air Force encountered the world’s most effective air defense network, equipped with modern weaponry supplied by the Soviet Union. By effectively utilizing and maximizing the capabilities of these weapons, the Vietnam People’s Air Defense - Air Force shot down thousands of American aircraft. The immense and special support from the Soviet Union played an important and decisive role in defeating the US Air Force during the years 1965-1972, contributing to the victory of the Vietnamese military and people in the resistance war against the United States for national salvation.
