Indian cultural influence on Thailand’s culture

Abstract

Indian culture is considered one of the cradles of Oriental culture. Indian cultural achievements in the ancient and medieval periods had a strong impact on the outside world, especially on Southeast Asian countries. This paper examines the imprints of Indian culture in Thailand, a Buddhist country that has absorbed various cultural and religious values from India. The research results show that, the Thai people have selectively absorbed Indian cultural values and continuously adapted them through different stages to formulate the current Thai culture.
