Seas and oceans play a particularly important role in the sustainable socio-cultural development, defense, security, foreign relations, international cooperation of all coastal states, ịncluding Vietnam. In the context of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, the research, development and application of advanced technology in the study of marine science and technology is increasingly being promoted. This article presents an overview on the trends in applying advanced technology in marine science research, assessing the demand and the ability to apply advanced technology in marine science research in Vietnam, and proposing solutions for Vietnam to promote
the development of marine science and technology.
