Creative thinking competency is identified in the output standards of pedagogical student curriculum. For universities, the development of creative thinking competence for students is one of the key tasks contributing to supporting the learning and vocational training process to achieve the expected quality. In this paper, based on the literature research method, the author presents the concept, expressions of creative thinking competences and the process of developing creative thinking competences for pedagogical students. In addition, the article applies the questionnaire survey method, the multiple-choice method using the TSD-Z tool and the analysis of descriptive statistics for the target group of pedagogical students in the Mekong Delta, in order to determine the characteristics of students’ creative thinking competences. From there, the author proposes measures to develop creative thinking competences for students.
