Tóm tắt

 The research explores how to enhance the effectiveness of English teaching and learning in
classes by foreign teachers in a private university in Hanoi, Vietnam. It delves into immersion language
learning, teacher professional identity as well as students’ learning attitude in learning. Data was collected
using the case study method - through a mixed methods survey on 36 students who attended two lessons
taught by two fourth-year student teachers majoring in English language teaching from a university in the
Philippines and taught in English only. The majority of students surveyed were stimulated to learn and
expressed a strong liking for such lessons though the content might be overwhelming for them to absorb.
