Tóm tắt

Although English is a global language, in Vietnam it remains a foreign language and
is primarily used in classroom settings. Limited exposure to English in real-life contexts, along with
significant differences between the phonological systems of English and Vietnamese, often leads to
pronunciation errors among learners. These errors, influenced by the mother tongue, can hinder effective
communication. Mispronunciation may cause misunderstandings, reduce learners’ confidence, and limit
their academic and career opportunities. This study aims to identify common pronunciation problems
among students at the University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU); present
effective teaching strategies and learning methods to help students minimize pronunciation errors and
improve their English speaking skills; and propose solutions to enhance the overall effectiveness of
English language teaching and learning.
