APPLYING CHATGPT IN SECOND LANGUAGE TEACHING: STRATEGIES, BENEFITS, AND LIMITATIONS

As globalization intensifies, the significance of acquiring a second language has become
increasingly pronounced. Nevertheless, conventional methodologies for second language instruction
encounter numerous limitations and obstacles. The swift progression of artificial intelligence has
engendered novel prospects for the acquisition of second languages. ChatGPT, an AI-powered
conversational agent, is capable of emulating authentic conversational contexts, thereby offering learners
a tailored linguistic learning experience. Functioning as an interactive instrument equipped with natural
language processing technology, it broadens the modalities and resources accessible to those learning
a second language. This paper investigates the avenues through which ChatGPT can be integrated
into second language pedagogy, delineates its benefits, and scrutinizes the current challenges it faces.
Furthermore, it posits specific recommendations for optimization to augment the efficacy of ChatGPT
within educational frameworks.
