TECHNOLOGY-ENHANCED INTERACTION IN ESP CLASSES: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES - A CASE STUDY AT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, HANOI

The current study investigates the effect of technology on the interaction of English for Specific
Purposes classes. Participants They are 120 first year non- English major students and 5 teachers of
Intenational School – Hanoi National University. The research group uses mixed-method design to gather
data on a questionnaire and interviews. Therefore, the findings from the study reveal that technology use
enhances the environment which promotes the involvement of the learner, and fosters interaction between
teachers and students, and between students. Yet, digital divide, distraction, and digital non-readiness
remain obstacles. The potential for integration is dependent on the students’ readiness, the facilitating
factors present in their schools and the guiding role of the teachers. The article proposes suggestions
which encompass in-service teacher training, upgrading the computing facilities infrastructure and the
tuning of teaching, material
