This study examines how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the role of foreign language
teachers in the digital era. The integration of AI tools such as ChatGPT and adaptive learning platforms is
shifting traditional teaching responsibilities, requiring new digital skills and raising ethical and professional
challenges. While AI offers instructional support, the irreplaceable human aspects—empathy, cultural
mediation, and critical thinking—remain vital. The paper emphasizes collaboration between teachers and
AI, and provides practical recommendations for teacher training and institutional adaptation.
