ENHANCING THE DEPLOYMENT OF MEMORY STRATEGIES: A FOCUS ON ENGLISH MAJOR STUDENTS OF THE BEL PROGRAM AT VNUIS
Tóm tắt
Memory strategies are among the most fundamental yet often underemphasized tools in second
language acquisition (SLA), particularly in higher education contexts that integrate interdisciplinary
training. This paper explores how five core memory strategies—creating mental imagery, grouping and
categorization, semantic mapping, rhymes and mnemonics, and physical response techniques—can be
effectively deployed by English major students enrolled in the Bachelor of English Language (BEL)
program at the Vietnam National University, International School (VNUIS), especially those minoring
in Business or Information Technology. Grounded in theoretical and empirical research, this discussion
highlights the role of memory strategies in enhancing both linguistic proficiency and professional
readiness, thereby contributing to graduate employability.
